Uses of Caricef 400mg

Caricef 400mg is indicated for the treatment of:

• Uncomplicated gonorrhea (cervical/urethral)

Dosage Information

For Adults:

• Standard dose: 400mg daily, taken as a single dose or divided into 200mg every 12 hours
• Uncomplicated gonorrhea: Single 400mg dose
• Treatment duration: Usually 7 days, up to 14 days if required
• Streptococcal infections: Minimum 10-day treatment

For Children:

• Tablets not recommended for children under 10 years
• For children 6 months to 11 years: 8mg/kg/day as a single dose or divided doses
• Safety not established for children under 6 months

Special Populations:

• Elderly: Same dose as adults (monitor renal function)
• Renal impairment (creatinine clearance <20ml/min): 200mg once daily
• Can be taken with or without food

Contraindications

• Known allergy to cefixime or other cephalosporins

• Allergic reactions: Rash, itching
