Caricef DS Syrup 200mg is an oral cephalosporin antibiotic containing cefixime. It’s used to treat various bacterial infections including respiratory, urinary tract, and other infections caused by susceptible bacteria. Available in Pakistan as a prescription medication.

Uses

Caricef DS Syrup 200mg is used for treating:

• Upper respiratory tract infections (e.g., otitis media)
• Lower respiratory tract infections (e.g., bronchitis)
• Urinary tract infections (e.g., cystitis, uncomplicated pyelonephritis)
• Uncomplicated gonorrhea

Dosage

For children (6 months to 11 years):

• Recommended dose: 8mg/kg/day as a single dose or divided into two doses
• For a 200mg/5ml suspension, dosage is based on weight (see dosage chart)
• Treatment typically lasts 7-14 days (10 days minimum for Streptococcus pyogenes infections)

For adults:

• 400mg daily (as a single dose or 200mg every 12 hours)
• For uncomplicated gonorrhea: single 400mg dose
