Novidat Syrup 125mg/5ml – Pediatric Antibiotic for Infectious Diarrhea

Novidat Syrup contains Ciprofloxacin, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic effective against many gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It is used for treating bacterial infections, including infectious diarrhea in children, when appropriate.

Child Uses:

• Treatment of infectious diarrhea caused by bacterial pathogens
• Urinary tract infections
• Respiratory tract infections (with caution)
• Other infections caused by susceptible bacteria

Dose for Children:

• Should be used in pediatric patients (less than 18 years) only for specific indicated infections
• Dosage must be determined by a physician based on:
  • Child’s weight
  • Severity of infection
  • Type of infection
• Not recommended for infants under 1 year of age

When Used for Diarrhea:

• Effective for diarrhea caused by:
  • Escherichia coli (Enterotoxigenic strains)
  • Campylobacter jejuni
  • Shigella species
  • Salmonella typhi (typhoid fever)
• Duration of treatment typically 7-14 days

Important Precautions for Pediatric Use:

• Should be used in children only when benefits outweigh risks
• Increased incidence of adverse events in children, including joint/tissue-related events
• Not first-choice antibiotic for many pediatric infections
• Avoid in patients with myasthenia gravis
